Jim Hitt grew up in Dallas, Texas, the general area in which the events of THE COURAGE OF OTHERS takes place. He graduated from North Texas State University and holds a MA in English and history.  He taught high school and community college in California for over thirty years.  In addition he has also been a lecturer for the Gene Autry Museum and is a member of The Western Writers of America.
